Make Sure You Have Cooked Bacon

If you’re cooking bacon on the spot for this recipe we like to throw it on a foil lined baking tray and bake at 425° F for about 15-20 minutes or until nice and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel to drain until you’re ready to use it. We use 6 sticks (1.5 per burger).

Grill the Jalapenos and Burger Patties

Preheat grill to high heat.

Cut the tops off 4 Jalapenos, cut in half and remove the seeds. Toss with enough oil to lightly coat them. Grill on high heat for about 3 minutes per side or until they are slightly softened and you have some nice grill marks. Remove from the grill, slice when they are cooled a bit.

Season both sides of 4 1/4 pound burger patties with salt and pepper. Grill the patties on high heat for 2-3 minutes per side or until cooked to desired doneness (this will depend on the thickness of your patties and your grill) place 1 slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Transfer to a plate to rest for a few minutes.

Genius tip from our Dad: Put the bacon on top of the burger patty and then melt the cheese on top to keep the bacon from falling out of your burger.

Toast The Buns

Toast 4 whole wheat hamburger buns either on the grill or in the oven under the broiler.

Assemble

Spread about 1.5-2 Tablespoons of cream cheese spread on the bottom bun then add a generous amount of raspberry jam, top with the jalapeños, burger patty, bacon and lettuce. Spread the top bun with mayo before placing it on top.
