How to Pickle Cabbage

If you are going to pickle your own cabbage do that first, here’s how.

Combine 1/2 cup Boiling water, 1/2 cup Apple cider vinegar or White vinegar, 4 teaspoons Sugar and 1 teaspoon Salt. Stir until the sugar is dissolved then pour over 1 1/2 cups finely shredded packed Red cabbage stir or toss together to make sure there are no air pockets. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This will store in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks.

For the Burgers

Preheat your grill to high heat.

Season both sides of 4 beef patties with salt and pepper. Grill covered over high heat for 2-3 minutes per side or until cooked to your desired doneness (this will depend on the thickness of your patties and how your grill cooks). Place 1 slice of Sharp white cheddar cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking. Transfer to a plate to rest for a few minutes while you toast the buns.

Tip: You can shape your own patties which is what we do. We make 3 for 1/3 pound patties or 4 for 1/4 pound out of 1 pound of beef.

Spread a thin layer of butter on each bun half then place on the grill cut side down. Grill on medium heat until your desired level of toastiness is achieved.

Spread mayo and sriracha sauce on each bun half. Place a patty on the bottom bun then top with Pickled red cabbage, Arugula and Avocado if desired. Top with the top bun (obviously 😃).
