Gourmet Turkey Burger
A grilled turkey patty topped with melted smoked Gouda cheese on a toasted bun with spicy mayo, cherry fruit spread, potato chips and butter lettuce.
Jump to RecipeThis gourmet turkey burger is smoky, salty, sweet, spicy, crunchy and soft all at the same time! Can it get any better?? You get smoky from the cheese, salty and crunchy from potato chips, yip you heard that right but trust us 😉. The cherry spread gives it a touch of sweetness and of course the spice… that comes from good old sriracha. This burger is right up there with our Gourmet Salmon Burger on the tastebud-gasam scale!
This recipe was inspired by a burger called The Patriot at Gordon Ramsay Burger in Vegas. The original burger had these little tiny shoestring potato crisp things but we opted for regular potato chips instead because we were too lazy to make our own fancy crisp things… sometimes we’re ambitious but not today LOL.

Extra Tips for This Recipe
We like getting one that has no added sugar or low sugar so it doesn’t over power the burger with sweetness. We have also tried cherry spread with added spices like cloves and nutmeg which was super delicious.
We just recommend finding a real or all natural smoked gouda cheese and not process cheese.
These sprouted burger buns from Alvarado Street Bakery.
100% whole wheat buns from Rudi’s Bakery.
We sometimes get these whole wheat buns from Brownberry Bakery because they are pretty easy to find in the grocery store.

Step by step instructions with photos below or scroll down for printable version
Start by Making the Turkey Patties
In a small bowl whisk together 1 egg, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon each of granulated garlic, granulated onion and smoked paprika. Then mix with 1 pound of ground turkey.
Divide into 4 equal portions then shape into patties the same size as your bun.
Tip: Use a cookie cutter and press the meat into it to make perfect patties.
Cook on a preheated grill over medium high heat for 3-5 minutes per side or until a meat thermometer inserted into the middle reads at least 160° (be careful not to over cook though so they don’t dry out).
Transfer the patties to a plate, place the cheese on top and cover so the cheese melts.
Toast the Buns
Toast 4 whole wheat hamburger buns either on the grill or in the oven on broil.
Assemble
Spread the top and bottom bun with mayo and sriracha then place the patty on the bottom bun, spread a generous amount of cherry spread on top of the patty (about 1 Tablespoon) then add a layer of potato chips. Top with lettuce and the top bun.
